Data-Driven Athlete

Pride in Work and Achievements

Jared enjoys compiling, sorting, organizing, and analyzing his clients’ sales and tax numbers. There’s a great sense of satisfaction for him when he finishes a return draft and everything checks out perfectly.

He also has a passion for learning about America’s geography, including counties and zip codes, by examining shipping information. Clarus has placed him in the perfect department to leverage his strengths. His aptitude for numbers and keen attention to detail allow him to excel in compliance.

Personal Insights & Fun Facts

Jared’s favorite quote is, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” – Ferris Bueller.

Fun fact: he only wears one contact. His right eye is 20/20, but his left eye needs a little extra help. He jokes that it’s only a matter of time before he can pull off a monocle! Jared is also a fan of Moneyball by Michael Lewis, enjoying its mix of sports and data-driven insights.

Hobbies and Inspirations

One of Jared’s favorite hobbies is slow-pitch softball. After moving to Columbus and graduating college, a local friend invited him to join his softball team. It had been years since he played baseball in high school, so he was excited to get back on the field. Their first season was in the fall of 2021, and since then, they’ve played in both summer and fall leagues each year. It’s a great way for Jared to stay in shape, enjoy some fresh air, and build lasting friendships. The game scratches his competitive itch while also fostering a sense of collaboration.

Jared’s college friend has been with him since the first season, and over time, they’ve built a group of regulars who return each season. His wife even keeps the scorebook and brings their dog to watch the games. In the fall 2022 season, they won the end-of-season tournament, though the trophy currently sits at his friend’s house since he was the team captain. Now that Jared has taken over as captain, he’s hoping to win a tournament of his own and proudly display the trophy!

Incorporating Hobbies into Daily Life

Jared has become quite skilled at navigating spreadsheets at work, so he applies those same skills to track and analyze his hitting stats. By keeping detailed records of each game, he can pinpoint areas for improvement, set goals, and stay motivated to perform at his best.

Advice for Aspiring Slow Pitch Softball Players

Jared has been playing baseball for as long as he can remember, and his dad played a major role in shaping his love for the game. His main focus is always to be the best player he can be. To stay motivated, he tracks his stats in a spreadsheet after each game, which helps him stay focused on improving.

His advice for anyone starting out? Invest in a good glove, practice away from the plate, and stay committed. Developing the fundamentals takes time, but persistence is key.

Memorable Moments

Winning the tournament in about 40-degree, rainy weather was very memorable. Out of six teams, the top four qualified, and Jared’s team was ranked fourth, entering the bracket as major underdogs. To top it off, Jared’s wife baked fresh apple cider donuts for the team.

Conclusion

Jared’s meticulous nature and passion for numbers make him an invaluable asset to Clarus Partners. Whether it’s organizing tax data, ensuring every detail aligns with compliance, or exploring America’s geography through shipping data, his dedication and focus drive his success. With a strong foundation in analytical skills and a love for learning, Jared thrives in a role that perfectly matches his strengths, continuously pushing himself to grow and contribute in meaningful ways.
